How Managed Network Works

A network engagement only works when the scope is deliberate. Here's exactly how we assess your network, recommend a scope, deploy, and manage it going forward.

Step 1: The network audit

Every engagement starts with an audit where we map your current network - firewall configuration, how your offices connect (or don't), switch and Wi-Fi setup, and whether anyone is monitoring uptime or managing your ISP relationship. This isn't a sales pitch - it's a genuine assessment of what's working, what's neglected, and what a business of your size and structure actually needs.

We look at how many locations you operate, current firewall rules and patch status, connectivity between sites if you have more than one, switch and access point coverage, and whether outages or bandwidth issues have been a recurring problem.

Step 2: Recommending the right scope

Based on the audit, we recommend which of the four solution areas - managed firewall and perimeter, site-to-site connectivity, switch and Wi-Fi management, or network monitoring and ISP liaison - matter most for your business right now. Most engagements don't need all four from day one; we prioritise the areas creating the most immediate risk or friction.

This recommendation is written down, not assumed, so you know exactly what's being managed and why, before anything is deployed.

Step 3: Deployment and onboarding

Once scope is agreed, we deploy or take over management of the agreed areas - configuring or reviewing your firewall, setting up site-to-site connectivity, configuring switches and access points, or standing up monitoring, depending on what was scoped. We work with your existing hardware wherever practical; a full equipment replacement is only recommended when it's genuinely necessary.

Documentation is built during this stage too: a record of your network configuration, escalation contacts, and (where relevant) your ISP account details for direct liaison.

Step 4: Ongoing management and review

Once live, the engagement runs on the agreed cadence - continuous monitoring where scoped, regular reporting, scheduled firewall rule reviews, and patch and firmware management. Many businesses start with a single gap, such as ISP liaison or firewall management, and expand scope over time as priorities shift.
